Professor Shixin Liu, MD, PhD, is the Discipline Leader of the Oncology Center. Dr. Lucía González Cortijo is a medical oncologist with more than 20 years of experience. She has led the Medical Oncology Department at Hospital Universitario Quirónsalud Madrid since 2020. Her focus areas include breast and gynecologic cancers. She also works in precision oncology, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy.
She has been Principal Investigator in more than 20 Phase II–III clinical trials. She has also served as sub-investigator in over 50 international trials. She previously worked at Quirónsalud Madrid from 2009 to 2020. Before that, she was at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid from 2002 to 2009.
She holds an MD and a PhD (cum laude) from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She completed her Medical Oncology specialty training at Hospital 12 de Octubre. She also earned a Master’s in Molecular Oncology. She is a member of SEOM, ESMO, ASCO, and GEICAM. She is a university lecturer.
Prof. Ben Boursi is a physician in the Gastrointestinal Cancer Department at Sheba Medical Center. He specializes in internal medicine, medical oncology, and cancer epidemiology. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He earned a B.Med.Sc (summa cum laude) and an MD (magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University.
He completed clinical and research fellowships in GI oncology and cancer epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed electives at MD Anderson and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Emad Shash, M.B.B.Ch, MSc, M.D., is a medical oncologist. He is the Medical Director of the Breast Comprehensive Cancer Hospital at NCI. He leads the Medical Oncology Department and is the Breast Program Director at Shifaa Al Orman Cancer Hospital in Luxor. His clinical focus includes breast, gynecologic, genitourinary, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and rare cancers. He specializes in systemic therapy, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
He served as coordinating research physician and medical lead at the EORTC from 2011 to 2015. Since 2008, he has contributed to more than 70 international oncology trials as a coordinator, sub-investigator, principal investigator, and sponsor medical monitor. Professor Raanan Berger, MD PhD, is a medical oncologist and radiotherapist. He is Director of the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center and heads its clinical research unit. He was listed in Forbes Israel’s “Best Doctors” (2025). He leads the genitourinary oncology program with a focus on prostate cancer. His care includes systemic therapy and radiotherapy in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered model.
He is board-certified in oncology. He earned his MD and PhD at Tel Aviv University and completed his clinical training at Sheba. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Dana-Farber/Harvard, focusing on prostate cancer with Dr. Philip Kantoff and molecular oncology in Dr. William C. Hahn’s lab. Dr. Nir Kleinmann, MD, directs the Endourology and Kidney Stones Unit at Sheba Medical Center. He is an expert in minimally invasive urology and urologic oncology. His focus is the kidney and upper urinary tract. He was named among Israel’s Best Doctors for 2025–2026 by Forbes and ResultMed.
He is a pioneer of kidney‑sparing laser surgery. He uses a dual‑laser system with neodymium and holmium for complex tumors. His expertise includes UTUC, kidney and prostate cancer, kidney stones, and BPH.

Dr. Eytan Aharon Ben‑Ami, MD, is a Senior Physician in the Sarcoma and Bone Oncology Service at Sheba Medical Center. He heads the Oncology Division and the Early-Phase Clinical Trials Unit. He founded the Sheba Clinical Research Organization. He is an academic affiliate at Tel Aviv University.
He specializes in sarcomas and primary bone tumors, including soft tissue sarcoma, liposarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and osteosarcoma. He leads Phase I trials in targeted therapy and immunotherapy. He designs personalized treatment plans for rare cancers. He also develops patient-centered programs, including pilots in advanced immunotherapy delivery.

Professor Jair Bar, MD, PhD, is a thoracic oncologist and Deputy Director of the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center. He leads the Thoracic Oncology Unit. He treats lung cancer, including advanced non-small cell cases. His care includes medical oncology, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.
