He was the first Southeast Asian ophthalmologist elected for a clinical fellowship at the Washington University Eye Center. Dr. Vongthongsri treats vision issues such as keratoconus—a condition where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape—and cataracts. He uses techniques including ReLEx SMILE, LASIK, and IntraLase laser surgery. The doctor performs corneal transplants and ring implantations to restore sight. He also provides treatments for presbyopia and glaucoma through laser iridotomy, which uses a laser to create a small hole in the iris.
