Dr. Arnulf Ferlitsch is a specialist in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and hepatology. He completed his medical studies in Vienna in 1998. He continued his training at top institutions, including UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania. From 2000 to 2010, he focused on internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, and intensive care.
Dr. Ferlitsch has received several research awards, such as the UEGW Best Abstract Award (2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012), the Ferring Prize, and the Skoda Prize. He founded the hepatic hemodynamics laboratory and the liver cirrhosis outpatient clinic at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Martin Zehetmayer is an experienced ophthalmologist who specializes in eye surgery. He earned his doctorate from the University of Vienna and holds a Ius Practicandi license. Since 1999, he has served as Senior Physician and Head of the Eye Clinic at the University Hospital of Ophthalmology in Vienna.
Dr. Zehetmayer has published about 100 scientific papers. His main research areas include ophthalmic oncology, corneal collagen structures, cataract surgery, and intraocular lenses. He was one of the first to use stereotactic radiosurgery (Gamma Knife, LINAC) for choroidal melanoma. He also leads the outpatient clinic for eye tumors.
He is a certified specialist in ophthalmology and optometry. Dr. Zehetmayer serves as Secretary of the Austrian Ophthalmological Society and has been President of the Vienna Ophthalmological Society. He is a university professor and an active member of several national and international professional societies.
Prof. Dr. Michael Georgopoulos is a Senior Consultant in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He specializes in diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous body. He is known for his skill in macular surgery, treating retinal detachment, and managing complex vitreous disorders such as vitreous hemorrhage and opacification.
Dr. Georgopoulos has led important clinical studies on 23-gauge transconjunctival vitrectomy and high-resolution OCT. He has also worked on new treatments, including VEGF inhibitors and cortisone. His research covers surgical techniques, drug therapy for vitreous diseases, and cytokine profiling in retinal conditions. His work has helped improve vitreoretinal surgery and patient care.
Dr. Josef Grohs is an experienced orthopedist who specializes in spine surgery. He has over 30 years of clinical practice. Dr. Grohs earned his medical degree from the University of Vienna. He also holds diplomas in Clinical Investigation and Manual Medicine. He received his specialist diploma in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1998 and completed his habilitation in 2006.
Dr. Grohs has served as Deputy Chief of the Spine Unit at the Medical University of Vienna. He has chaired AO-Spine Austria since 2015. From 2009 to 2011, he was President of the Austrian Spine Society. Dr. Grohs has performed surgeries in several countries, including Ghana and Kenya. He is known for his work in orthopedic education and research. He is active in both European and Austrian spine societies.
Dr. Irene Marthe Lang is a leading cardiologist and vascular surgeon at Vienna General Hospital (AKH). She is also a Professor at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Lang introduced Austria’s method for widening narrowed pulmonary vessels. She leads research in cardiopulmonary medicine, hemodynamics, and vascular interventions.
Dr. Lang graduated with highest honors, “sub auspiciis praesidentis.” She received national recognition, including an honorary order for her services to Austria in 2016.
