Rehabilitation Center Pforzheim practices an innovative concept for quick, high-quality and stable recovery. The main goal of the center - restoration of motor function, speech function, cognitive abilities of patients, as well as the restoration of their independence in everyday life.

Accommodations

Duration of treatment may vary and is determined individually, on average, in order to achieve a stable result of rehabilitation, recommended length of the course in 12 weeks.

I am a 36-year-old wheelchair user with tetraspasticity who is learning to walk in therapy. I spent six weeks at the Geerlofs Rehabilitation Center in January 2017 and would like to share my experience with you.
It took an incomparable amount of effort, trouble, and worry to navigate through this jungle of applications, objections, negotiations, arguments, certificates, prescriptions for physiotherapy, doctor's visits, and loans. Not to mention the massive debt I got myself into.
Why did I do that?
At the introductory meeting, I was promised the moon! After the meeting, I was more enthusiastic and confident than I had been in years.
Unfortunately, the facility was completely unable to keep its promises!
What I was promised: Approximately 4 hours of therapy daily, always with two therapists, running training, an innovative and individualized therapy concept, trained and competent therapists, and on-site nursing staff (due to my disability, I rely on nursing assistance).
My stated goal was to further develop my walking ability. However, my legs were tied down several times and I was asked to exercise my arms. Even if there was a deeper purpose behind it, I wasn't informed.
The therapists were constantly changing! After I didn't get along with one therapist, I repeatedly asked to be assigned someone else. This person was completely unable to adapt to my condition, provide meaningful therapy, or explain their actions.
She said, "I'm just a sports physio, and I can't do anything with you neuros anyway."
So, I would seriously question the competence of individual employees.
Ultimately, I was given a bottle of water and made sure I drank enough fluids – but the highly touted, diverse range of therapies was nowhere to be seen.
I was simply told to my face that "nothing more could be done" with me!
I was told I was "wasting my time" and "you'll never be able to stand on your own anyway."
Once, I was left sitting next to the bench for hours!
No wonder I also briefly became ill during this time and developed a fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit – I was urged, with the utmost insistence, to come to therapy, even though I felt terrible.
I was also promised a caregiver who would "take care of all my needs" – the reality was that an assistant came by three times a day to handle the bare minimum. And since the therapy placed such great emphasis on me drinking plenty of fluids, these three visits were obviously far too few!
Although I'm actually continent, I was forced to wear incontinence pants – i.e., diapers – because the staff was completely overwhelmed.
In addition, even though I was only there for six weeks, I had to change rooms at least three times – and please don't forget that I'm a quadriplegic in a wheelchair! I was expected to pack my bags and move around on my own without help!
Although I expressed my concerns in a very friendly manner several times, no one really addressed my concerns. I was left to my own devices; my words weren't taken seriously, and I didn't even get a hint that I was being listened to! Quite the opposite – I was made to feel like I wasn't being taken seriously at all.
I've never come home from "rehab" or "therapy" so disappointed, depressed, demotivated, and dejected.
It wouldn't be a lie if I said that this devastating experience caused me psychological damage.
Only thanks to my new physiotherapy at home can I now walk with a walker.
I would like to warn everyone not to invest their private money here – this rehab did not help me at all!

Ein Stern ist bei soviel Unverschämtheit noch zu viel!! Ich besuchte Ihren Stand auf der diesjährigen RehaCare und bekundete mein Interesse an einer Rehabilitation, da mir vor wenigen Wochen eine Intrathekale Baclofenpumpe implantiert wurde. Ich berichtete, dass sich meine Lebensqualität seitdem immens gesteigert hat, ich sehr glücklich über diesen Schritt bin. Sie rieten mir sofort dazu die Pumpe wieder ausbauen zu lassen. Und dazu, dass ich mich ja darauf gefasst machen kön…nte, dass dies genauso schwer wird, wie die Implantation an sich. Des Weiteren wurde das Können des Operateurs sowie die Kompetenz des Krankenhauses stark angezweifelt. Ich finde es eine absolute Frechheit sich so zu äußern, ohne zu wissen, wie es mir vorher/ ohne Pumpe ging und was ich bis dato alles durchgemacht und ausprobiert hatte, um meine massive Spastik sowie die damit verbundenen Schmerzen in den Griff zu bekommen, oder gar die Klinik und den Operateur zu kennen. Jeder darf seine Meinung äußern, aber dieses Gespräch war einfach nur eine Frechheit!

Ich bin eine 36 Jährige, Rollstuhlfahrerin mit Tetraspastik, die in der Therapie das Laufen lernt. Ich war im Januar 2017 für 6 Wochen im Zentrum der Rehabilitation Geerlofs und möchte Ihnen von meinen Erfahrungen berichten.Es hat mich unvergleichlich viel Anstrengungen und Mühe und Sorgen gekostet mich durch diesen Wald aus Anträgen, Widersprüchen, Verhandlungen, Argumentationen, Bescheinigungen, KG-Rezpten, Arztbesuchen und Krediten zu kämpfen. Ganz zu schweigen von der massiven Verschuldung in die ich mich gestürzt habe.Wieso ich das getan habe? Bei dem Kennenlerntreffen wurde mir das Blaue vom Himmel versprochen! Nach dem Treffen war ich so hellauf begeistert und zuversichtlich, wie seit vielen Jahren nicht mehr. Leider war die Einrichtung völlig außer Stande ihre Versprechungen zu halten!Was mir versprochen wurde: Täglich ca 4 Std. Therapie, immer 2 Therapeuten, Lauftraining, innovatives und individuelles Therapiekonzept, ausgebildete und kompetente Therapeuten, Pflegepersonal im Haus (Auf Grund meiner Behinderung bin ich auf Pflegeassistenz angewiesen).Mein erklärtes Ziel war es meine Gehfähigkeiten weiter auszubauen. Jedoch wurden einige Male meine Beine festgezurrt und ich wurde aufgefordert die Arme zu beüben. Selbst wenn ein tieferer Sinn dahinter stecken sollte wurde ich in diesen nicht eingeweht.Die Therapeuten wurden ständig gewechselt! Nachdem ich mit einer Therapeutin nicht klar kam habe ich mehrfach gebeten mir jemand anderem zuzuweisen. Diese Person war absolut nicht in der Lage sich auf mein Krankheitsbild einzustellen, eine sinnvolle Therapie durchzuführen oder ihr Handeln zu erläutern.Sie sagte: „ich bin nur Sport-Physio und mit Euch Neuros kann ich sowieso nichts anfangen.“Also, die Kompetenz einzelner Mitarbeiter würde ich demnach ernsthaft anzweifeln.Im Endeffekt wurde mir eine Flasche Wasser zur Seite gestellt und aufgepasst, dass ich genügend Flüssigkeit zu mir nehme – jedoch von hoch angepriesenen vielfältigem Therapieangebot fehlte jede Spur.Mir wurde einfach ins Gesicht gesagt, mit mir „könne man nichts mehr machen“!Ich musste mir anhören ich würde „meine Zeit verschwenden“ und „Du wirst eh niemals alleine Stehen können“Ein Mal wurde ich Stunden lang neben der Bank sitzengelassen!Kein wunder, dass ich in diesem Zeitraum auch noch kurzzeitig krank geworden bin und 39Grad Fieber bekommen habe – da wurde ich eindringlichst und mit massivem Nachdruck aufgefordert zur Therapie zu kommen, obwohl ich mich hundeelend fühlte.Zusätzlich wurde mir eine Pflegeperson versprochen, die sich „um alle meine Wünsche kümmern sollte“ - die Wahrheit sah so aus, dass eine Assistentin 3 mal täglich vorbei gekommen ist um das nötigste abzuarbeiten. Und da in der Therapie über alle maßen viel Wert darauf gelegt wurde, dass ich jede Menge trinken soll, waren diese drei Stipvisieten logischerweise viel zu wenig!Obwohl ich eigentlich kontinent bin war ich gezwungen Inkontinenzhosen - also Windeln zu tragen, weil das Personal völlig überfordert war.Hinzu kommt, dass ich, obwohl ich nur 6 Wochen dort war, ich mindestens 3 Mal das Zimmer wechseln musste – und bitte nicht vergessen, dass ich eine Tetraspastikerin im Rollstuhl bin! Von mir wurde erwartet meine Koffer alleine und ohne Hilfe zu packen und selbstständig umzuziehen!Obwohl ich mehrfach äußerst freundlich meine Beschwerden geäußert habe hat sich Niemand wirklich meiner Sache angenommen. Ich war auf mich alleine gestellt, auf meine Worte wurde keine Rücksicht genommen und mir wurde nicht mal signalisiert, dass man mir zuhört! Ganz im Gegenteil - Mir wurde das Gefühl gegeben, dass ich kein Stück ernst genommen werde.Noch nie bin ich von einer „Reha“ oder „Therapie“ derartig enttäuscht, deprimiert, demotiviert und niedergeschlagen nach Hause gekommen.Es wäre nicht gelogen wenn ich sage, dass diese niederschmetternde Erfahrung mir seelischen Schaden zugefügt hat.Nur durch meinen neuen Physio zu Hause kann ich jetzt am Rollator laufen.Ich möchte gerne alle davor warnen hier ihr privates Geld zu investieren – diese Reha hat mir nichts gebracht!

Meiner Meinung nach die einzige Möglichkeit wieder auf die Beine zu kommen. Ich habe einen Inkompletten Querschnitt und kann mich nach 19 Wochen Therapie jetzt ein wenig am Rollator fortbewegen. 6Std Therapie täglich gibts nur hier... Therapeuten sind sehr gut und Familiär! Danke und bis bald!
