German Cancer Society DKG
Lippe Lemgo Center of Visceral Oncology is certified by the German Cancer Society for the treatment of stomach, intestine, and pancreatic cancers. The Hospital is fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment and employs qualified doctors to treat patients with tumors in the digestive tract.
Radiation Therapy Department
Every 2nd onco-patient undergoes treatment in the Radiation Therapy Department. A linear accelerator of the latest generation is used here. The device irradiates one tissue area in 1-5 minutes.
Radiation therapy is prescribed for patients with malignant and benign tumors located in the head, thoracic organs, mammary glands, pancreas, rectum, prostate, and bones.
Types of radiotherapy used by doctors at Lippe Lemgo:
- IGRT - irradiation under visual control. It is used for "moving tumors" - lung or prostate cancer. The radiation beam adjusts to the patient's movements and affects only cancerous cells. This negates the damage to healthy tissues.
- IMRT - intensively modulated radiotherapy. Doctors use IMRT to treat prostate, intestinal tumors, head, and neck cancer. The technique directs the maximum dose of radiation to the affected area bypassing healthy organs.
- Brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Doctors put radioactive "seeds" in the prostate gland. They affect nearby malignant cells increasing procedure effectiveness.

Oncology and Hemathology Department
The Hospital is certified by the German Cancer Society. It guarantees effective cancer treatment according to the latest medical guidelines. Doctors specialize in treatment of such diseases as:
- leukemia, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, plasmacytoma (bone marrow tumor);
- breast, lung and stomach cancer;
- tumors of the ear, throat, and nose.
The main treatment methods used by Lippe Lemgo doctors:
- Surgical removal of tumors. Doctors carry out sparing organ-preserving operations - neoplasms are removed through a few-centimeter wide holes (the size depends on tumor location). Such operations leave nearly not noticeable scars, the recovery process is faster than after open intervention.
- High-dose chemotherapy combined with autologous stem cell transplantation. A patient is prescribed high-dosage сhemo that destroys malignant cells in blood and lymph nodes. After the course physicians transplant stem cells to restore normal hematopoiesis. This is an effective treating technique of lymphoma, leukemia, and plasmacytoma.
- Endoscopic operations for cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. Onco-surgeons remove neoplasms in the gastrointestinal tract without skin incisions, through natural openings. Applying this method, it is possible to remove tumors in the intestine or esophagus. Among the advantages of the procedure are absence of scars and minimal recovery period.
- Radioimmunotherapy in combination with radiotherapy. The procedure is prescribed for patients with melanoma, brain glioma, lymphoma, prostate cancer. Radioimmunotherapy drugs destroy only malignant cells and do not affect healthy ones.

Doctors of the Center treat patients with stomach, intestines, and pancreas tumors. Physicians perform more than 150 operations on the rectum annually.
Doctors of Lippe Lemgo have been successfully performing pancreatic cancer operations for over 20 years. This is a complex procedure that lasts up to 6 hours.
Services for foreign patients
A patient lives in a single or double room. Each room has a TV and internet connection. There are a bathrobe, a towel, bath accessories, and a hairdryer in the ward.
The Clinic has an International Patients Department. Coordinators help foreign patients to undergo examination and treatment, hire a transfer, find an interpreter, and organize leisure.

Ärzte kann man überhaupt nicht verstehen da deren Deutschkenntnisse nicht ausgeprägt! falsche Diagnosen - folgt falsche Behandlung! Patienten werden nicht verlegt obwohl es ausdrücklich gewünscht wird, solches müsse der Chefarzt entscheiden. Wenn man in dem Fachbereich nicht ausreichend gedeckt ist, sollte man es dies zuliebe der Gesundheit des Patienten eigentlich durch gesunden ärztlichen Verstandes tun - Fehlanzeige! hier sind Patienten für sich allein gestellt! Personalma…ngel! auch eins meiner und auch Befürchtung vieler Bekannter und wenn man sich andere Patienten anschaut ! - die Patienten kriegen entweder Psychopharmaka oder ziemlich starke Medikamente wie Morphium oder sonstige Medikamente, wo weder Patient noch die Angehörige davon was wissen! viele sprechen um sich herum sodass man seine eigenen Bekannten und Familkenmitglieder nicht wieder erkennt und diese um sich herum sprechen als hätten sie Schizophrenie! schon wenn ein Pfleger des Krankenhauses sagt - weg hier bloß woanders hin ! - was soll man da noch denken! bloß nicht hier hin !!! von geschnappten keimen mal abgesehen 😤 ich würde noch so gerne so viel schreiben, auch über das Krankenhaus detmold - genauso schlecht!

I felt very well looked after and well cared for. Clear answers to all my questions, and everyone took the time for me.
The rounds were very pleasant, with a lot of friendliness and care. You can clearly see that "This team loves their job."
And you can feel that throughout.

My father became ill at the campsite and was taken by ambulance to this hospital in Lemgo. He spent 11 days at station 13.
At first, we knew nothing, and there was a language barrier, which made everything a bit more difficult. But after the doctors from our insurance company contacted the hospital doctor, and as the tests and treatments progressed and my father improved, everything improved. They didn't request a file from the Netherlands; why? I have no idea.
They examined my father from head to toe (completely inside and out) and arrived at the same diagnoses that had already been diagnosed in the Netherlands. Nothing but praise!
The nurses were very caring and kind to him (and to us as well).
The nurses (and my father too, by the way) became emotional at the farewell. That speaks volumes!

Mein Vater wurde dort einfach nur menschenunwürdig behandelt. Er wurde mit einer Lungenentzündung eingeliefert. Im September wurde ein bein amputiert. Das andere bein war auch gefährdet. Am 29.12.2017 fiel mir auf das der Zeh und die Ferse fast schwarz geworden sind. Ich verlangte eine Untersuchung. Antwort Ein Arzt ist erst ab 02.01.2018 wieder verfügbar. Ergebnis das zweite bein wurde amputiert. Er lag auf Station 31 um Altbau. Keiner hat sich darum gekümmert das… der Fuss immer schlimmer wurde. In den ganzen Wochen lag mein Vater fast immer alleine auf dem Zimmer. Wenn man ihn besuchte starrte er an die Decke. Jedes mal bat ich die Schwestern meinem Vater das Fernsehgerät anzumachen. Aber keine Schwester hat es in den ganzen Wochen gemacht. Mein Vater musste den ganzen Tag an die Decke gucken. Er konnte ja nicht einfach aufstehen und das Gerät einschalten. Und die Schwestern haben ja immer wenn der Besuch den Fernseher abgeschaltet hat den Standby Knopf zum ausschalten gedrückt. Er hatte kein pflegebett würde nicht entsprechend gelagert hat jetzt zwei offene Wunden . Dann fragte ich eines Tages in der Pause nach ob ein entlassungstag ansteht. Sa sagte man mir er wird heute in die geriatrische klinik nach steinheim gebracht. Einen Tag zuvor könnte man meinen Bruder nichts sagen. Mein Vater hatte keine entsprechenden Sachen für den Aufenthalt. Hosen hatte ich aufgrund der amputation erst umnähen lassen. Ich sagte der Schwester das ich früher Feierabend mache und Sachen nach Lemgo bringe. Dad sie bitte bis 15 Uhr warten. Was mir auch bestätigt wurde. Auf die Frage was ich einpacken muss war die erste Antwort Socken. Unfassbar. Ich war dann um 14.35 Uhr da. Der Tag mit dem Sturm. Höllenfahrt. Endlich angekommen auf der Station sagte man mir das mein Vater seit 10 Minuten Süd dem Weg nach steinheim ist. Ich war geschockt habe geschimpft. Die Schwester hat nur in ihre alten gestarrt mich nicht einmal angeguckt. Ich wollte ihren Vorgesetzten spreche. Antwort sie hat die Nummer nicht. Unten an der Information hat man mich mit einer Frau verbunden die sich der Sache annehmen wollte und meinte das das natürlich ein unmögliches Verhalten war. Sie wollte sich wieder melden. Ich warte seit über einer Woche darauf. Es ist einfach nur traurig ein Mensch der nichts mehr hat so im krankenzimmer dahin vegetieren zu lassen. Einfach unmenschlich. Ich werde mich auch an die Presse Wenden. Mein Vater musste es leider über sich ergehen lassen. Aber ich hoffe das wenn es an die Öffentlichkeit kommt nicht einem anderen Armen Menschen widerfährt.

Hab ne neue Hüfte bekommen,bin begeistert vom engagierten, immer freundlichen und kompetenten Team der Station 11, mein Dank gilt den Schwestern, Pflegern, Ärzten, Stationshilfen, die auch an den Feiertagen immer für uns Patienten da sind!!!

Wenn man Glück hat,wird man freundlich und gut behandelt. Auf Grund des personalmangels sind die Schwestern, Pfleger und auch die Ärzte oft überfordert. ich wurde von einem Arzt behandelt der selbst sehr erkältet gewesen ist. Dazu kommt noch dass manche Ärzte schlecht deutsch sprechen und man sich nicht richtig verständigen kann. Meine Freundin hat neurologische Ausfälle im Bein, und wurde vom Notarzt mit dem krankenwagen in die Ambulanz geschickt. Nach einer Medikamentengabe und kurzer Untersuchung hat man sie wegen überbelastung wieder nach Hause geschickt.

Notaufnahme schrecklich. zwar schaut ein Arzt deine Symptome an doch wenn er dir erklären will was du hast, kannst du es auf Grund seiner Aussprache nur erraten was er gesagt haben könnte. von der Freundlichkeit mal ganz ab zu sehen.

Unfassbar, wie dort mit multiresistenten Keimen umgegangen wird. Mein Bruder musste sich mit Mudschutz etc. verhüllen, der Handwerker marschierte einfach so herein. Ich versuchte etliche Male den Arzt zu sprechen, der aber nicht anwesend war. Darauf hin gab man mir eine Nummer unter der ich ihn erreichen könne. Als ich ihn an der Strippe hatte, sagte er mir, dass er telefonisch keine Auskunft geben könne. Was sollte das ganze dann?
