I won’t lie, I’m quite disappointed about the way things work here.
Initially I came in for a consultation with Dr Sedar. The whole process of lasik was not explained to me properly at all. He just told me how long the procedure and recovery takes and that I am legible. Did not explain any options and when I asked about doing SMILE, he said there was no need. I am a contact sport player and I am now being told that I can no longer play after doing lasik because of potential dislodging. For the rest of my life! This is going to be a hugely negative life changing experience which could have been avoided if the doctor explained to me what the process was.
After lasik, I came for a check up appointment two weeks later where the doctor told me I have an allergy and prescribed some additional eye drops. I asked for clarity three times on what he meant by allergy and he didn’t explain. ‘Nothing important don’t worry’.
Re payment:
I was first asked to pay 5000tl for this apportionment which I was taken aback about, and upon expressing it, I was told instead to pay 4000tl.
Now, when discussing payment re the lasik itself, I was initially quoted 70,000tl (around 2000$). I was appalled by this, having lived in turkey now for 5 years and expressed this. It was then brought down to 60,000tl, and then 50,000tl, and then 40,000tl.
This whole process include a show of sorts where the cashier would call someone and talk to them and then come back and agree and then leave and talk and come back and agree. Sometimes saying that the doctor won’t approve this, other times saying it’s been approved.
I found out later from someone in the surgery room where I was being prepped for surgery that he paid 32000tl.
So not only does this place totally scam you, the doctor himself does not ask you questions regarding your lifestyle and does not explain the process of lasik itself so that you can make an informed decision.
I am inclined to sue Dünyagöz for the impact this will have on my lifestyle.
