Swoją karierę medyczną rozpoczęła jako lekarz rodzinny. Po 4 latach pracy jako lekarz rodzinny, przez 5 lat pracowała jako lekarz badacz w Szpitalu Szkoleniowym i Badawczym Zdrowia i Chorób Kobiet i Dzieci Zeynep Kamil. Następnie pełniła funkcję lekarza specjalisty, adiunkta i profesora nadzwyczajnego w różnych instytucjach. Pracowała w Houston MD Anderson, North Carolina-UNC, Boston-Harvard University w USA.
