He completed his medical degree at Erzurum Atatürk University School of Medicine in 1984. He finished his orthopedics residency at the same university in 1992.

He also worked as Deputy Undersecretary and later as Undersecretary at the Turkish Ministry of Health from 2008 to 2014.
